We were staying in Port Angeles (mid-May) and stopped to see the Lodge on our way to the Marymere Falls. We liked the restaurant and decided to reserve for dinner even though it meant a drive to Port Angeles and back to the Lodge. It was worth it. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the lodge, the location on the lake and the great view. We had asked for a table at the window and that is what we got - which was nice since several Lodge guests had tables behind us. The view down the Lake is stunning even on a cloudy day. Service was good though a bit "raw" - the nice waitress forgot our bread. We both had the Roasted Cedar Planked Wild Salmon which was excellent - not cheap at $28 but worth the price. For dessert we had Mount Olympus Triple Chocolate Brownie which was neither Olympian nor particularly good (dry) and a bit pricy at $10. Good wine and beer selection. The restaurant is expensive but probably worth it. There are lower priced options available such as burgers and fish and chips. You can also eat in the bar or solarium. Although service was a bit "raw", I am sure it gets more professional as the season progresses. We would definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Pretty pricey. Had a lovely room, but no dresser! There was a squirrel in the room when we arrived. Poop and torn tissue paper in a number of spots. We asked for help and nice manager got him out. Didn't even charge us the pet fee! :-) Compared to staying at Yosemite Lodge, the Crescent Lake Lodge is not as good a deal. This is more a function of Olympic Park being so huge. The lodge is relatively centrally located, but you still have to drive to anything (there is a one short hike to a falls nearby). We were in the room so little, I would save the money and just stay at Granny's (Indian Valley Motel) or in Port Angeles next time.

First time I stayed here was when I was 13, and our Scout troop got washed out on a backpacking trip and had to stay on the grounds here in tents, in November. I remember the manager provided us with hot cocoa (with marshmallows), freshly baked cornbread and sat us all in front of the huge stone fireplace with a blazing bon-fire going singing bawdy songs he'd learned during WWII. Since that would-be miserable night turned great, I've always had a soft place in my heart for this place. Besides that, it lies on the only body of water which I cannot tell the difference between it and the lakes one finds in the Italian Alps. Aesthetically speaking, they are twin siblings. It's uncanny, really. = 5+ stars for cordiality, authenticity, and decor. The food here is overpriced and just bad. The clams are deathly, overly salty. The risotto, is NOT risotto and not even cooked with the correct rice (think Uncle Ben's with cheese. Lots of cheese). The Duck Confit was slightly less horrid, but still not even close to worth the price they charge. The fish and chips; fish WAY over cooked and much too dark a brown in color (oil burned). = 1 star for food. If you stay here, I suggest getting a cabin. The rooms on the upper floor of the lodge itself are VERY charming, but the walls are about 1/4" thick and you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are up to, even when they whisper. A chipmunk fart would sound like a thunderstorm. So get a ("Singer Tavern") cabin. = 3 stars for lodging (overall). Overall, the place (IMO) is the most beautiful place one can find to lodge on a lake in the PNW. So rent a canoe, fill a large wicker basket full with food, wine and treats, paddle to the other side of the lake with your mate, hold hands, kiss, make whoopie at sunset, finish off what's in the basket -then paddle back under a full moon. = 5+ stars for ambiance, scenery and untampered historical architecture of the lodge and surrounding structures. This is summer camp for adults. So said Pres. Theodore Roosevelt. If they changed out chefs, I have no doubt their ratings would shoot up to 4.5/5 stars. Time to call Gordon Ramsey.

When you're in a touristy National Park with few choices you can't expect a lot from a restaurant. With that said I'd say this place has some decent dishes but some flops as well. I'd rate my meal about 4 stars but my hiking companions gave theirs about a 2. The signature house salad with champagne vinaigrette had a healthy mix of dried cranberries, sunflowers and other colorful crunchy veggies. For the lunch entree I picked a fish sandwich (Sorry, don't remember which kind) but it was well seasoned and cooked properly. Not much could be said for the salmon nicoise salad. It was plated (and tasted) in a rather mediocre way in what appeared to be a mix-it-yourself salad; The single cut of salmon sat on a bed of arugula with small helpings of olives and green beans bunched up and tucked in under the edges. If you're hungry there really isn't much else to choose from unless you head over to Port Angeles. All lodges in the Olympic Nat'l Park are run by Aramark which probably explains the cafeteria overtones that their food exhibits. Service was very good and of course the view over the lake is the hallmark of the restaurant.

For a lodge within a National Park, I thought that Lake Crescent was pretty good. Run by Aramark, the food was fine---such as the fish and chips and the burger. You can rent kayaks at the Lodge, about $20 an hour. While the rates are a bit $$$, the rooms were fine and a lot cleaner than what I was expecting. Didn't have any issues with noise, despite the fact that we were on the first floor of a two-story building. Beautiful lake, which is gigantic.

Loved the restaurant, especially the gorgeous veranda room facing the lake connected to the bar. Food is excellent and inexpensive for such a great location, and the view is absolutely amazing. What a lovely place to relax from lake activities or hikes, mingle with friends or guests, and have a nice meal.

Nice view, nice rooms. horrible services. Had to have a reservation, if you don't have one, then be prepared to stand in line and wait for a bartender so you can order a $25 sandwich.

The Lake Crescent Lodge is a fantastic lodging choice on the north end of the Peninsula and honestly a fantastic lodging choice period (unless you are on a budget, then don't come here, go to the Lake Crescent Log Cabins around the lake). Spent the night in Roosevelt Fireplace Cottage #35 (see photos) last Tuesday night. The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably, we were only 2. The main room has a fireplace, couch and bed there's also a bedroom with two beds in it, we opted to sleep in the main room with the fireplace which was super cozy and had a great view of the lake. In the morning we awoke to find a beautiful rainbow over the lake (see photos). Lake Crescent Lodge has various types of rooms in different areas on the property. There are 4 free-standing Roosevelt Fireplace Cottages, 5 rooms in the Lodge, rooms 5-21 in the Singer Tavern Cottages (located next to the Lodge) then past the parking lot are three motel-like structures called the Pyramid, the Storm King and the Marymere. Prices vary for all the rooms with the cottages being the most expensive and the motel-like rooms being the least expensive. I looked at a Singer Cottage room before deciding on the Roosevelt Fireplace Cottage, the Singer Cottage room was nice and clean, but was really just a regular hotel room and I wanted to stay overnight in a real lakefront cottage/cabin if I was going to spend more than $150 for the night. We had dinner in the restaurant - food was good but overpriced. I definitely wouldn't recommend LCL if you are on a budget, but if you want to splurge one night or if you can afford multiple nights then this is a beautiful place to stay and enjoy the row boats and nearby hikes.

The breakfast buffet was terrible. The waiter was rude and disrespectful. There was close to no food on the buffet and when I asked for some more fruit or more bread my reasonable request was met by a snarky response. For $12 pp I expected to at least be fed. I am not over exaggerating when I say there was no food on the buffet. I am sure the ooey gooey cinnamon rolls were great but of course there were none. It wasn't even the end of service. Their buffet runs from 0800-1100 and we arrived at 0900. We were not the only annoyed customers. One man asked for more waffle batter for their make your own waffle bar. 10 minutes later the batter arrives and the entire dining room rushes to the two waffle machines. One woman even had to ask for bagels. I know they aren't making bagels in the back of the house, I would expect someone to be monitoring the food and to refill the nearly empty if not completely empty food tables promptly. Worst buffet (if you can even call it that) I have ever had the displeasure of dining at.

Only 3 reviews for this magical place? This was one of the highlights of our Olympic National Park trip. No pictures can do justice of the beauty that is Lake Crescent. Do not expect WIFI or even a television set in your rooms. Heck, the water pressure was awful. But the room was spotless and the air was so clean that I slept like a baby. The only regret I have is spending only one night here. If you are visiting the park, this Lodge is a must do, even if you are not spending the night. Go grab breakfast or lunch at the Lodge and head off to one of two great trails that start here. I can't wait to go back.

Wow! I am just shocked by these bad reviews. Absolutely shocked. Here are my thoughts. Location: I'm pretty sure life doesn't get better than Lake Crescent Lodge. It's seriously one of the most amazing places I've ever been to in my life. It's situated right on the lake with awe-inspiring views. Atmosphere: It's rustic and sweet. The people are very nice. The entire place screams history and relaxation. I believe someone referred to it as "Summer camp for adults", and it is just that. We were even lucky enough to have the local ranger organize a campfire sing-a-long, which was a very nice touch. Food: The food at the restaurant isn't horrible like the other posts... but it's Aramark so it isn't fine dining. If you go in assuming that the food is going to be top of the line then you'll be incredibly disappointed. If you go in expecting OK food then you'll be happily surprised. I never had a bad meal here, but I will agree that the prices are a little steep and the service is God-awful slow... but if you set expectations then it really doesn't bother you. Accommodations: We stayed in one of the cottages and it was awesome. I believe we were cottage #21 and we had an awesome view right from our porch. We had our own bathroom and really didn't hear any noise from other neighboring cottages except for the occasional door close (which is expected). The rooms do not have a TV or a radio. It's very basic, which is part of the charm. Recommendation: I don't know if you can tell, but I'm completely over the moon for this place. When we go back to WA we will definitely be staying at the Lake Crescent Lodge

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for a night while making our way through Olympic National Park. It was our first time to Washington and we loved it. This place blew us away! We had just come from Kalaloch Lodge on the coast, which we liked a lot, but Lake Crescent left us in awe. The lodge was gorgeous, our Storm King room was fantastic and the restaurant was delicious. We checked in around 5:30 or 6pm and quickly made reservations at the restaurant for dinner, as there weren't any open food options around...I'm so glad we did. Our waiter, William, was absolutely wonderful! The epitome of friendly, William made our tasty meal even more delightful. Since Lake Crescent really isn't cheap, it's probably best for a special occasion trip...it was our anniversary trip, so paying a little more to stay right on the lake and enjoy a bottle of wine was totally worth it! This place is so beautiful and tranquil...it's like heaven. Waking up to the beautiful lake and the light fog amongst the high trees was definitely one of our favorite parts of our trip! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a breathtaking and relaxing trip surrounded by the beauty of Olympic.

I'm super surprised by the negative reviews about the food here - I came here for lunch after a hike and had a spectacular experience! Service was great; had the grilled 3-cheese panini with tomato and a side salad with their lavender dressing; finished it off with a bowl of their marionberry ice cream. Loved!! The view is breathtaking. We hung out for a couple of hours and no one said boo. It was a great stop after a beautiful hike.

This place rests in a simply stunning location. But we didn't come for the beauty. We came for the fish and chips. Since my travels around Britain, I've been on a quest for the best fish & chips in the Pacific Northwest. I don't claim to be a connoisseur, but I know what I like: not too oily or soggy, flavorful but not overcooked, crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. You know what I'm talking about. And it's not JUST about the fish. It's about the combination. You have to have quality chips (fries) to go along with it. All of that is to say that the fish at the Lodge is excellent. They breaded the fish and perhaps baked it? I'm not sure, but it was crunchy on the outside and perfect on the inside. Super flavorful. I would order it again. The chips were pretty standard. They were obviously generic frozen fries, but there was some seasoning on them that was tasty. Not the best I've had, but not the worst. I would recommend this place just for the food, but there is so much more to the Lake Crescent Lodge. My visit to the Lodge is still new in my mind, but it's quickly becoming a warm memory. Besides the food, I spent a really wonderful evening there with my girlfriend. This historic lodge rests on the shores of Lake Crescent. When first entering the lodge, you're greeted by the crackling of a fire in the large stone fireplace. Out on their covered deck (where we ate dinner), big windows frame a breathtaking landscape: bright blue water, mountains flowing down into the lake and the setting sun. This would be a great place for a romantic getaway, a weekend reprieve, or just a stop for dinner.

The lodge is beautiful and the overall setting is very relaxing and scenic. This year a new food service vendor has taken over the while the food is good - if you get it - the service is VERY slow and poor. We've been 3x since it opened in 2010 and had bad service each time. Frustrating as we love the location. Also there's few options for vegetarians (my partner). 7/27/10 After two recent visits, food service has improved in both the dining room and adjoining sunroom!

What a delightful and beautiful spot for this lodge! We had rooms in the Marymere building. The room was nothing special, comfortable but average (and affordable). However we DID have a view of the lake, which was really nice. We even had a patio with lawn chairs, if it had been warm enough to sit outside. The main lodge was just a two-minute walk away and it has a wonderful common area with a fireplace for cold days. There is also a west-facing sun porch with windows. With these long May days, it was a wonderful place to spend some time reading as the sun slowly made its way towards the horizon. Oh, and there is also a full bar in the common area, which was a big plus. We ate a very delicious dinner in the restaurant. Because it was a quiet evening we had no trouble getting a table by the windows and we got to watch the sunset over the lake. Divine. The food was really yummy and the service was great. They have the MOST AMAZING salad dressing, this champagne/honey/lavender dressing that was just to die for. Our wonderfully kind server arranged with the chef for us to purchase some to take home in a to-go container because I raved about it so much. Much appreciated! We only stayed one night, but we will definitely be back, hopefully to stay longer. The setting is wonderful and there are lots of great hiking opportunities nearby.

The decor and setting are top-notch. This place is beautiful and worth coming to for a drink, if you're in the area... Unfortunately, the food was seriously over-priced and less than enjoyable. Of the five of us dining, only my 8 year old cousin enjoyed her dinner ('cheesy pasta' saves the day again). If I had it all to do over again, if I found myself there for dinner, I'd eat in the lounge/bar area and bring my food out onto the glassed-in porch area where you get a fantastic view of the lake and comfy chairs to boot. Also, there are some cheaper options only on the lounge/tavern menu and not on the restaurant menu.

Without question this setting is splendid. We are "locals" and this used to be our favorite place to eat. Being our anniversary i made the reservations two weeks in advance. When we arrived our name was no where to be found. They did however get us in at the appointed time since we were there at the opening. We then waited 30 minutes and had not even spoken to a server. The people we entered with were on their deserts by the time we were able to hale Timothy who saved the evening by coming out of his section and serving us. My wife's pork was quite good. My trout was not. Because of the problem they comped the deserts. In a more general sense the building needed cleaning. Trash in on the lobby floor and the restrooms were filthy. A shame.

This review is for the bar only. The view and the vibe rate top stars! I always enjoy a road trip that includes a lodge cocktail tour. I gave an extra star just because the lake made me high. Listen up now... do not order the Bloody Mary. It was shockingly bad. You've been warned.

My mother lives in Sequim, so we decided to explore the area and have dinner at the Lake Crescent Lodge. The view is obviously quite spectacular and the food was pretty good (although considerably overpriced). The service was definitely not spectacular. The server would come to our table and just sort of stare at us waiting for us to say something. I also had to ask for bread (after I noticed that many tables near us had been given bread). He then missed the opportunity to add to the bill (and his tip) by merely whisking my empty wine glass away rather than asking me if I'd like another. I would like to come back to the Lodge for a stay, but I'm concerned that the rest of the facilities will have the same problem of lackluster service combined with steep costs.

  • Kate W.

We did not stay at the lodge, as my parents live nearby. We came for lunch. The restaurant was about 70% full. We waited a full 45 minutes between ordering and the arrival of our sandwiches. The food wasn't bad, but no one apologized for the delay. And when the kid at the table next to us spilled milk which splashed into the aisle, the staff simply stepped over the small puddle until the family left. I almost got up and sopped it up with my napkin...it was a slip and fall waiting to happen. The food was OK, but otherwise, I wasn't impressed.

I agree with Mary T. this place is completely and totally enchanting! We stopped by for breakfast on the way our to Forks and La Push for our own little Twilight tour. The lodge itself is gorgeously appointed in antiques, rustic furniture, Elk heads, and some local Indian art. The dining room itself is rather bland and uninspired. However, the service was top-notch and our breakfast was solidly mediocre. We tried the chorizo omelet, the grilled asparagus tips and brie omelet, and the eggs benedict with Dungeness crab cakes. As tasty as the above breakfast items sound, my amateur cooking skills would put this place to shame. I'll admit, it's not really close to any real city, and they're only open for a few months a year, but really people? It's a resort! My stepdad complained about the portion size, but he's a rather serious eater, so I wouldn't put too much weight to that unless you're morbidly obese. The waiters were well-dressed, well-mannered, attentive, and rather attractive to boot. You can also spend the day here and hike the perimeter of the lake, hike to a nearby waterfall, rent a row boat, or spend the day lounging in an Adirondack chair sipping iced tea and taking in the scenery... I wouldn't mind coming back to the Lodge to spend a night or two. I'd spend even longer here if they were looking for a chef next summer!

Just got back from staying here. Great location, amazing views, great service, nice people. We only stayed for one night but enjoyed so much the breathtaking view at dusk and the next day. Perfect place for extreme relaxation. Turn off your cellphone and enjoy nature. We sat by the fireplace with a glass of wine for hours. The employees were attentive to our needs and kept the fire going for us into the evening. My only complaint is that the food was a bit overpriced and not very good. But that's how they get you because there is no where else to eat or go shopping for a good 30 minutes! Bring some bagels or fruit to hold you over. Port Angeles is a good 20 miles through the mountains, but it's worth it for a better meal. Also, we stayed at the Marymere Rooms and weren't expecting 5 star quality, but the rooms were a bit rundown and needed some updating. The comforters were very worn and the bathroom wasn't very inviting either. Just fyi if that matters to you.

  • David B.

I'm also surprised by how negative the reviews are. I'll admit that it's overpriced, but the food isn't nearly as bad as some claim it is. Actually, I thought most of it was quite good (with the exception of a somewhat undercooked piece of salmon the first night). The lack of competition means that the prices are sky-high, but the manager and the staff are very attentive and friendly. And good luck beating them for scenery! Crescent Lake and the surrounding mountains are utterly gorgeous...there's no shortage of things to do here!

Lake Crescent Lodge's location is perfect for someone who wants to spend quality time admiring the beauty of Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park. It is just half an hour drive from Port Angeles and is along the road between Port Angeles and Hoh Rainforest. The lodge offers different types of accommodation and you'd need to book it through the National Park's website. The rooms are scarce and on the expensive end ($200 or more esp during peak season), compare to other motels within the 30min drive vicinity, but the atmosphere and the convenience of being next to the lake probably pays off if you have a relatively high budget. For us, we didn't spend a night at Lake Crescent Lodge, but only stop by there for lunch and some kayaking activities at the lake (the lodge is adjacent to the lake and the place offers single or double kayak and canoe rental for $25 an hour or $35 for 2 hours, so you can just park at the lodge and stop by and eat/enjoy the water activities there). I saw on the notice, the lodge also offers weekly lake kayaking tour on Fridays as well, so if you are around that area on that day, you may want to call to find out more information or stop by to see if you could join the tour. The lodge has a gift shop and restaurant attached to it. The restaurant offers PNW food selection and has pretty good quality service. Prices are about $11-20pp for lunch, so it's not overly expensive either. The lodge is beautiful and unlike many accommodations around the Olympic Peninsula area which tend to fall along the line of motels, offers more a beautiful place and a higher quality of stay. Do consider a stop at Lake Crescent Lodge, especially if you are already traveling from Port Angeles to Hoh Rainforest.

My review of the Lake Crescent Lodge is a difficult one to write. This amazing place should be a clear cut leader for 5 stars but unfortunately its Aramark lodging accomadations are farthest from the truth. Ofcourse in such a rustic & serene setting one can't expect too much as to lodging but the rooms really are worn down and outdated. My wife and I stayed for two nights in one of the marymere rooms and I gotta say besides the location & views, the room itself was quite disappointing. Few details: The bathroom tub appeared to have some rust/mold around the borders and the overall cleanliness was way below par. The tolet didn't work properly for half our stay and after a few attempts to notify the front desk it was later fixed almost 24 hours later to our dismay. No apologies. The bed was ok. There was a brown blanket not folded in the closet when we first entered the room. The turndown service was rushed and poorly done when we revisited our room in the afternoon. I don't even know if they did anything. At night, we could hear our neighbors talking outside. The room positives though are that you are so close to the lake. Sights, sounds and everything to being outside in nature. For some, that might be enough to overlook everything else, but for 200 a night, I personally was expecting alittle more especially for my wife & I's special anniversary. Besides that, everything else is quite nice about this property. The lodge itself is absolutely stunning & beautiful. The cozy fireplace and lodge amenities are highly desirable. The lodge restaurant was also a nice surprise (Suggest getting smoked salmon) The plates are what one should expect for a property of this stature. Would be nice if they changed up menu on a daily basis for people staying for more than one night. The bar was also nice & inviting but could use a nicer selection of bourbons & scotches. The staff at the property was all very inviting and professional. The surroundings are absolutely as nice as it gets. Whether sitting on the chairs watching the lake move or walking on the small pier, the Lake Crescent Lodge is though a very special place. So like I said, a tough review to write. If you decide to stay here, you must have realistic expectations about the accomadations. So this is why I rated this place as 3 stars. Would be nice to come back some day, but hope they make certain changes first.......Come on Aramark - Listen to your followers.

This is undoubtedly a beautiful lodge and location, located picture perfect on the shores of Lake Crescent. Unfortunately the service for the restaurant was severely lacking and dinner here was a terrible experience after an otherwise great day in Olympic national park. We called ahead and made reservation for 4 at 7oclock. We checked into the hostess early at 630 since we arrived early. Our table wasn't ready. No problem, we walked around the lake and came back to get a drink at the bar and look over the menu. 715 rolls around and we finally get seated. Not a problem..we know it was pretty busy that night and we already had time to look over the menu. Now we were served our water and bread but that was the only attention paid to us until we had to flag our hostess down almost 45 minutes later to ask where our server was. Lo and behold it was the guy serving several other tables next to us, but paid no attention to our table. We made eye contact with all the servers waiting on tables around us until we couldn't wait anymore. I guess all the servers here have the mentality that its "not their problem". Apparently the server "forgot" we were his table. We order and it takes another 45 minutes for our food to arrive, semi warm. This guy also forgot to pick it up from the back. The soup had been plated but not served for a little white, you could tell it had been sitting for a little while. The server knew the food had been out for a while and offered to serve a new bowl of soup if it wasn't hot enough, but after 90 minutes of waiting and only bread to eat, I was hungry and accepted it. The waiter threw in a free dessert for the table for our wait but that was hardly enough to save our dinner. The food was decent but the experience was horrible.

My filet mignon was okay. The grilled squash was tender but so so in flavor. The pork shank was very good, the mashed potatoes were good. The halibut was excellent and the green snap beans good. The bread pudding was good and tasty. The New England clam chowder was excellent. The bread was alright. The service was slow but the waitress was polite. It was not crowded.

Usually on vacation, when you go to the same place twice, the second time is much-much worse. Not that day! Had lunch and dinner there on the same day, and everything was awesome. The service, the meals were better than we expected, and we really felt that we're on vacation. Hope that their food and service are consistent.

Hubby and I toured some of the Rain Forest in Olympic National Park and decided to have Lunch in the Dining Room at Lake Crescent Lodge. It is a great location in an interesting old Lodge building but the Dining Room at lunch time is bright with sunshine and beautifully appointed. We were seated by a window with the added advantage of overlooking the sunny porch dressed with red, white and blue bunting swags. Our waiter was Stacy and he was a personable, friendly person who was very good at his job. He made sure we were comfortable and was attentive throughout without being intrusive. Hubby ordered what turned out to be one of the absolute best Burgers of the whole trip! I had an exceptionally tasty Turkey Club sandwich with the turkey stacked high. Both were served with one side and we chose fresh fruit with a wonderful mix of berries, two varieties of grapes, melons and pineapple and citrus. We had each sandwich cut in half and thus had a change to try both in one meal. The menu also offered Lavender infused Lemonade and it was really delicious. It was a bit more pricey than our usual lunch but was such a lovely setting with good food that, when we strolled back out into the sunshine, I was just happy we had made the effort.

We stayed in the Storm King rooms - we had a groupon - thank goodness - so save a little. The rooms are very bare bone - which is fine - but they are also painted the worst color ever. It reminds me of a hospital. Anyways - the bed was decent, the shower seemed to have some mold on the ceiling and it would have been nice to put a small table in the bathroom for toiletries since the sink was just a pedestal instead of putting it on the floor. . .not sure when the rooms were last updated, etc - but I would have some suggestions. . . . The walls are apparently very thin - good thing there were only a few other people staying in that section when we were there as they were pretty far away and you can definitely hear more than you want! Restaurant - food was alright - overpriced - in line with the other Aramark run lodge at Quinault. Not really impressive, but again they have a more or less captive audience and they definitely aren't shy about overcharging you because of that. I get that it's in a NP, etc - but it seems to me to be a little ridiculous.

5 stars for the location and view, but only 3 stars for the food. This place has amazing views of a remote lake from the lodge and many rooms combined with being near some great hiking, but the lodge food is truly mediocre. That would be more forgivable if there was anything else within 20 minutes, but there isn't. My wife and I stayed in a room in one of the newer buildings not attached to the main lodge. The room was large and nice if a bit spartan. The view from a large window looking out onto the lake was stunning though. Seriously, the lake is probably only 50 feet away. There's even a little shared porch with chairs to look out over the lake. The room would have been nearly perfect if not for a few small things. First, there was no shampoo or soap in the room when we showed up. They fixed this really quickly when we asked though. Second, one of the half-n-half cups had spoiled which ruined some of the morning coffee. That being said, the coffee in the room was surprisingly good if you brewed it double strength. Much better than what they served at the lodge. The only really disappointing part was the lodge restaurant. We had breakfast there and it was really just OK. I got the smoked salmon omelette and my wife got the sausage scramble with potatoes. The omelette and scramble were fine if uninspiring. They were passable diner food. The potatoes seemed a bit soggy and wilted as if they had just been frozen for too long. In the end, come here for the views and the hikes, not the food, and you'll be happy.

We stayed here for a friends' wedding. Booking through the website was a real challenge - and they have this strange $25 cancellation fee even if you cancel 72 hours in advance. This was in early August, so it was 80-90 degrees out, and there isn't any A/C on the premises. No TV, No Internet, Fringe mobile coverage. Maybe a perfect get-away for some - I wasn't impressed. The grounds, lake, and lodge are beautiful - so come visit during the day and enjoy a meal! (The food for the wedding, provided by the lodge was good, but VERY expensive)

RESTURANT REVIEW: Sadly the Resturant is no longer the glowing gem it once was in the Olympic Peninsula. Our sever was apathetic or annoyed, and the food was dry, over cooked and blah. Prices were obscenely high for lack luster quality food. Not the only ones to feel disappointed - we heard at least two other tables on different occasions complaining about service and quality. We ordered salmon it was dry, seemed it went straight from freezer to oven to heat rack to dehydrate for 20 minutes. The view however is gorgeous. We were here two years ago and the food was superb. Wish the quality was still there.

Quaint cabin hotel in the perfect location. It is nestled right in front of the lake and surrounded by huge mountains. The lake is gorgeous and you can rent kayaks/canoes. We stopped here for lunch one day just passing through but really wish we had stayed here. The food was perfectly acceptable (cobb salad and solid kids menu) but you really come for the scenery. Would definitely go again!

The lodge is located at a beautiful location. The view from the dining room is gorgeous. Our waiter, Brent, was very nice. Sadly the food did not rise to the occasion. We ordered fish and chips. The battered fish was frozen. Thick gooey batter and the chips appeared to have come from McDonalds. At $19 we felt ripped off. Time for the food to match the location.

You want to come have dinner here, but it's not really for exceptional food. It's for the lodge charm and beautiful view of Lake Crescent. The food is fairly average. Not bad by any means, just not special. We'll gladly come back. But again, not for the amazing food, just because it's beautiful here.

Let's starts out with the view is spectacular! Lake is stunning! But that has to do with Mother Nature nothing to do with Aramark who is the managing company of The lodge. Let's start with the rooms: the cleanliness is a C average, spiders in the showers, musty smelling room. No informational brochure on the hotel or sites to see in the area. For a room to be over $250 I excepted more. So they are docked one star. Bar service: Good. Ordered a meal and asked bartender if she would deliver to the room. She said they don't normally and she did it anyway since she wasn't busy. And since our cabin was close it was doable. And our food came out super fast! They get to keep their star! Hostess recommended the Brussels sprouts and bacon dish. It was amazing! Glad I listened to her. Restaurant: Unbelievably SLOW!!! I'm not sure if it was the kitchen being super slow or if the server forgot to enter in the order but 45 min wait for some eggs is ridiculous! And the taste was just okay. I had to ask the front desk to give me a late check out because this was pushing our schedule quite a bit. Also the coffee mugs were still dirty. Mine had lipstick residue still on the lip. And I wasn't wearing any lipstick so I know it wasn't mine. Minus 2 stars for timing and quality/cleanliness. Closing thoughts: it's gorgeous here. I do recommend staying here only if you get an amazing deal. The private cabins are not worth the extra cost. The cheaper rooms are close to the water and there are tons of places to enjoy the lake.

Had dinner there with a long time friend and colleague. It was a meeting we had been trying to get together for months. We decided that a splurge was warranted. I had a pork shank that was terrific.slow roasted and mouth watering. My friend had an amazing salmon. Appetizers were a faux caviar, homemade cracker, smoked salmon with Dijon mustard ice cream served on a salt plank. It was an amazing combination. Bill was our waiter and he was the perfect person to make recommendations and share secrets about the menu. Great chance to catch up and talk over some issues.

What do the adorable Audrey Tautou and I have in common? Very little, and frankly I wish more. Ah, to be a gamine movie star, speak fluent French and have my younger boyfriend stare at me adoringly. Do you think I'll be asked to host Cannes next year? Probably not. The one thing we do have in common is we both stayed at the Lake Crescent Lodge last weekend. Now we were already having a great visit, my family and I, but upon seeing her there, I realized I need to appreciate my own backyard more as a world class destination. The Olympic National Park is incredible (but hello, Paris!) and its good to be reminded of that. Plus, its always fun to see someone you recognize and admire, and then pretend you haven't seen them, so they can enjoy their vacation too. Lake Crescent Lodge boasts classic Americana at every turn. They still had the red, white and blue decorations up from the Fourth of July on their porch., when we arrived. The building and hotel is owned now by the National Park Service and managed by Aramark. The main property has about ten rooms, with shared baths, which can be booked online. There are also several historic cabins right off the main house overlooking the docks and nearby water. Further afield, there are more modern cabins and rooms that are far enough removed to, on the one hand, to provide privacy, and close enough to offer a quick walk to the main house, with its ornate wood carved lobby with fireplace, perfect sun deck with wicker chairs, old oak bar, restaurant, and gift shop. Dinner managed to be better than breakfast, not hard to do because breakfast included terribly overcooked and over salted eggs. Ugh. Hopefully lunch is closer to dinner in its quality. I wish Aramark's food could live up to this legendary location (It doesn't) but at least the good news is that its really okay at dinner (skip the earlier meals) and there are good wines, drinks and desserts and a sensational waterfront view. In my mind, so-so food offerings should not detract (at least here) from what is a once in a lifetime setting, a beautiful dock, a pebbly beach, turquoise waters and mountains carved by glaciers. Oh, and if you are lucky, the occasional adorable French movie star.

Go to Lake Crescent Lodge for the breathtaking scenery. The dining room has an awe inspiring view of the lake and the mountains beyond. The food, accommodations, and service were all mediocre. We had a hard time finding the main lodge for check in because it was after dark (5pm) and some would-be useful signs weren't illuminated. The phone number on my reservation connected me to a nice lady in Phoenix who had never been to Crescent Lake. When we did get the local staff, they weren't particularly helpful or understanding. The food is overpriced, unsophisticated, elaborately plated. This place would benefit from some local management that is more interested/attentive.

You are paying for location, not luxury. This place is very similar to the places I've stayed in other national parks--almost identical to Grand Tetons Jackson Lake Lodge. The rooms are basic. No TV or internet, but really? There is plenty to do and I didn't miss it. Istayed in one of the Maymere rooms, which back up onto Crescent Lake and have a huge window full of view. There is also a patio in the back with chairs to sit and relax. I stayed in December, so did not take advantage. The main lodge was charming. There is a full bar and restaurant. My breakfast was tasty (smoked salmon omelet) and generously portioned. The coffee was good and plentiful. Early winter is the time to come here. Rooms are a lot cheaper and the trail to Marymere Falls was nearly empty. The main lodge looks great decorated for Christmas and it smells like Christmas outside with the pine and smoke. PS, you're really missing the charm of this place if you don't go out to the falls. If you want a longer walk (or even run, the trail is in very good condition), enter the Moments In Time trail by the Marymere building, follow to the Storm King ranger station, then pick up the trail to Marymere Falls from there. On the way back, you can grab the spur that takes you back to the lodge. According to my hiking app, that clocked in at a little over 3 miles. I would guess the roundtrip just from the lodge is about a mile.

RESTAURANT REVIEW ONLY You know that overly processed, salty, kind of mushy, slightly grey, sliced "turkey" product that doesn't really taste like turkey let alone look like real meat? That was what was in my $14 turkey sandwich. The overly generous amount of aioli mixed with some type of Lingonberry jam on one one side and really sweet cranberry relish on the other didn't help. On the flip side, a ham sandwich was pretty good - still processed sliced meat, but at least closer to ham. In both cases, the french fries were odd, tasking somewhat like those fries that are made with instant potato then re-formed (I think they buy them, not make them themselves) - Not very good. The service was nice, but inattentive. When you visibly have less than 4 tables, and you are not running food yourself, there is little excuse to have to flag you down for subsequent visits. I get that you are pretty much the only restaurant between Beaver and Port Angeles and that there are challenges that a lodge in your geographical region has to deal with. But the food wasn't very good and the service was mediocre. Next time I'm passing that way, I'll just pack a lunch.

I really didn't want to believe the reviews at this restaurant. We stayed at the lodge for one night and decided to stay here to eat dinner. We sat at the bar and had a drink before dinner and ate an appetizer. The bartender was amazing. She was working alone and it was busy. Despite that she managed to be so attentive. We ordered the meatballs for an appetizer and they were pretty good. Sat down for our dinner and it took a while to get our waiter. He finally came by and was very nice. I thought perhaps the reviews of bad servers was maybe not true. We got some bread which was delicious. Ordered our meals. I got a cup of chowder and the smoked salmon salad. My boyfriend got the pork shank. They brought my soup out first. Didn't bring any crackers and our waiter disappeared so I never even got a chance to ask for them. We finished our bread and never got offered to bring more. We got our meals shortly after, before I even had a chance to finish my soup. The pork shank was good. It came with root vegetables that weren't cooked all the way so they were hard. So that was a bit disappointing. My salad was awful. I had seen the photo of the smoked salmon salad here on yelp and it looked amazing. Unfortunately mine looked nothing like that. I got a piece of smoked salmon that I think was still frozen in the middle. I couldn't cut through it, it was freezing cold. It was also so salty that I couldn't eat it. I love smoked salmon, and this was definitely the worst I have ever had. I had two bites of the salmon and then just ate the salad. The waiter never came around to ask us how our meal was. I had finished my wine and never got asked if I wanted more. The waiter came and dropped off the dessert menu. Not even clearing our plates. He finally came back and got our plates, not even mentioning that mine hasn't been touched. Just ignored it. And then ran off before I could make a comment. We ordered dessert. Boyfriend got the salted caramel cheesecake which was delicious. I had 3 scoops of ice cream. All dessert were $9. I think a little much for ice cream, but whatever. Ordered coffee. Never got offered a refill. I eventually had to yell to get the waiters attention to bring more coffee. Overall, a waste of $100. It's too bad because the lodge is gorgeous and we enjoyed our trip. Plan on coming back but would never eat at the lodge again.

THIS is a fantastic summer spot! Come for the day, hang out on the beach, eat at the lodge like we did. And reHnt a canoe. We're gonna stay next time we can! I felt compelled to write this b/c of the poor reviews I saw on Yelp. The food was good, really good. Full bar. Tap beers. The staff was extremely service oriented. So much so, I felt compelled to buy sundries in addition to buying my party of ten lunch!

I'm going to start off by saying we absolutely loved our stay here. Loved loved loved. We are on a long road trip from Southern Cali and only had a night to spend in the Olympic National Park - so thankful we spent it here. The location couldn't have been more breathtaking, surrounded by lush forest, right on the gorgeous Lake Crescent and close to all the hikes and down aways from Port Angeles. Due to some rooms being closed (the one we reserved) we were placed in the ones they had available, which was fine. We had a small room mix up where we were given a room that had not been cleaned however they apologized profusely and immediately got us a new room, which felt nicer being on the top floor with a large ceiling and patio (room 306). They also gave us a discount for the mix up which was very nice. The room had 2 queen beds with rustic furniture made from trees that had a modern feel. The place was clean and the beds were comfy. But we spent most of our night at the lodge. We started with dinner in the lounge area so we could take advantage of both menus. We ordered the hazelnut crusted goat cheese with honey and crostini, the crab cakes, and the bison meatloaf with Brie maxed potatoes - so yummy!! We paired it with some dirty martinis and beer before heading into the main area of the lodge where the bar and entrance/fireplace are located. We continued to drink and found ourself a table to play a board game- I couldn't tell you the last time we played something that wasn't cards or not with the nieces and nephews. Anyway, what a great night to end with a fun game of scrabble and a few more drinks before heading back to our room. The next day, we checked out and took the 1.5 mile hike to Marymere Falls, a 90 ft waterfall that is about a 40 minute round trip hike. We wished we had way more time to explore but we had a ferry to catch to Canada. We will be back! And maybe for a week instead of a night. We loved our stay, if you're on the fence- I wouldn't even think about it!

Food was mediocre at best for the price. The wait staff provided much humor with comments like the prociutti "from Italy" "isn't overly chewy or salty" and "the cheese brings it all together." The view and setting on Lake Crescent were phenomenal though... I'm giving this place 2 stars for dining, but 5 for the view. Do yourself a favor and eat in Port Angeles or bring a grill with supplies, or pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.....All are better and don't say I didn't tell you so......

The lodge is great. 1940's music plays in the lodge with a fireplace burning. Beautiful patio and shoreline. The landscape is picturesque beyond description here. We stayed on the top floor of the lodge. It has shared bathrooms due to the plumbing style at the time of construction (98 years ago). We loved it. Our room was $118/night. The only way we could afford this view is because it is owned by the National Park Service. If it were a private lodge, we would likely not ever have been able to afford our stay. I can't say enough great things about it.

This review is for the lodge itself and the room where we stayed- not Lake Crescent. I plan to do a completely separate review of Lake Crescent. I really want to give a 3.75 rating. We stayed in the park for one night on our two-day road trip and we chose Lake Crescent Lodge from all the great reviews we saw. Upon making our reservation (approximately 3 months out) the only rooms available were in the Stormking building and we were fine with that - please note: if you plan to stay here book far in advance, esp if you want a cabin. By no means were we in search of luxury lodging and really just needed a place to stay for the night (I think we were in the room for a total of 6 hours). With that being said, for the price I do think the room could be a bit nicer- it was pretty basic and seemed like it could use a bit of updating. Also, if you plan to do anything raucous in there, know that the walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing. As for the lodge, it was quaint and really the perfect setting you'd imagine for a night in the mountains. The fireplace was magical and exactly what we needed after a day spent in crazy windy and rainy conditions. The bar has a pretty good beer selection (picky beer girl, here) and everyone was super kind. We ate supper in the lodge and the service was excellent- I guess, reading other reviews, meat eaters can be all super picky about things- but the chef here made me a special vegan meal loaded with beets, greens, and heirloom tomatoes and it was excellent. I will note that my husband ordered some pork dish and it was ENORMOUS and the server noted that "no one ever finishes it", in which case, why are you serving and wasting so much of an animal if it's not being used and then just tossed in the trash? Again, my rating is a 3.75 stars and I will definitely return to Lake Crescent Lodge and book ahead in order to get a lakeside cabin.

Have been coming here for years, but only for lunch. Never amazing, usually okay, and always expensive. This year we decided to come for Xmas dinner, and we're very surprised. Unfortunately, not happily. Our first course was soup and salad. The soup was pretty good, the ceasar salad was a joke, with almost no dressing, chewy croutons, and Kraft processed parmesean on top. For our main course; my vegan mother ordered a custom pasta dish and asked for "lots of mushrooms". The mushrooms were almost hard to find, and tiny little chunks. My girlfriend ordered scallops, and they came drowned in tomato sauce (which wasn't on the menu), and really not well seasoned. I ordered chicken with boar. The sauce was strange... The chicken, was inedible because of the salt. Never in my life has my stomach or tongue felt so raw from salt. I can eat half a bag of sunflower seeds and not feel half as bad as I do right now. I also have to mention the bathroom; it seriously smelt like a rest area bathroom on the side of some abandoned highway. The service was not horrible, and they did give a small discount for our complaints. I'm not sure who's in charge of this aspect of such a beautiful area and grounds, but they are doing a HORRIBLE job. I'll be back, but not to eat.

Sadly we had a horrible experience this Christmas weekend at Lake Crescent lodge. It was our family weekend and I had booked on line early December. We arrived at the lodge early on Sat. As I checked in I was told we could not have our dog in the room we reserved and we would need to leave her in the car overnight.( 30 degrees or below freezing) which was to our family inhumane. The front desk person/ manager then proceeded to offer another room that was dog friendly but one bed for 4 people. At a higher rate....so sadly we had no choice but to get back in the car and drive another 4 hours home. Bad customer service, not clearly stated on website dog policy and they lost our business and I will never recommend this lodge or any of ARAMARK's property's to anyone.

We were here for the Christmas Day Brunch. Upon entering the lodge, in the lobby there's a Christmas tree and a roaring fire. We were seated immediately; here they truly do reserve and hold a table for you. The staff is attentive and friendly. The brunch consisted of a nice assortment of breakfast foods - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and salmon eggs Benedict. In addition there were a few salads and fruit. They also had ham and prime rib. There was a lovely assortment of desserts. Everything was delicious. A great Christmas Memory. We'll be back :-)

We stopped here on Monday, July 21 because we wanted to stay here but it was booked so we wanted to check it out. We had a drink and lounged by the lake for a spell. After skipping stones in the placid lake, we went on our merry way to la push. I would stay here in the future. We didn't eat but what other people had looked tasty.

The view from the cottage was so beautiful. The lake during the sunset was gorgeous too. We stayed here for 1 day touring Olympic National Park in out Twilight tour. We enjoyed the breakfast and lunch here. I really liked hiking to the Marymere Falls. The accomodation is good and comfortable. We have no complaints

We loved this place! We happened upon it while driving through and were able to enjoy a good sandwich and a glass of wine. The lodge is very welcoming and the views from the porch are beautiful. We had a grilled veggie sandwich and the fries were the best we have ever had. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. There were many families here with children jumping off the dock into the lake. This is a great venue for just a quick bite or a place to stay with your family. If you are in the area, you will not be disappointed with a stop at this destination!

This location is beautiful because it is directly on the lake; however, the old, over-priced facility does not match the cost. For example, The hostess in the lodge dining room would not tell me what the dessert selections were at 8:00 at night as she looked past me for folks who wanted a full meal even though the dining room was not crowded. Every worker I met seemed very pompous and not helpful. The rooms were small and had the smallest pillows I've ever seen. The bathroom sink had no place for a tooth brush. There was only a shower because a tub wouldn't fit. There is not much choice when visiting Olympic National Park. What a shame they can't present a better room for over $200 per night.

Food gets it three stars. The views and the grounds deserve five stars. Took literally the most amazing photo I've ever taken in my life here on the grounds. I started off with chowder, which was rich and good, but nearly overhwhelming on the herbs. My smoked salmon Caesar salad was so bland, I nearly grabbed the salt to give it some zing. Two other people had the fish and chips and said it was OK, but a little greasy. I wouldn't come here for the food, but it is worth the view and a drive around the grounds.

Wonderful hotel right on the lake. Rustic cottages with a small porch. Lodge itself has free internet and Adirondack chairs out on lawn to relax and contemplate the tranquility. White tablecloth restaurant with excellent service. Two fish dishes of salmon and halibut less than stellar but wild boar roast shank and roasted chicken pasta dishes very good. Restaurant prices very expensive. Did I mention the hotel lake environment...to die for!

The view of the lake? Fantastic. Certainly a must see location. The restaurant? We apparently arrived in-between meals and the restaurant was closed. The only thing available was some overpriced "finger food" from the bar. How overpriced? Cheese plate for two - $27. Did it serve two? No. Not even close. I'd be willing to bet the there was about $24 profit made on that miniscule serving. French Fries. OK, but again, small portion. I'm a huge fan of all of our National Parks but there was something unsettling about the Crescent Lodge. This is the first National Park that I've ever been to that seemed to have a litter problem. If I see litter, I pick it up. Normally, I see park employees doing the same. Here, there was so much trash strewn about that I wasn't about to take that task on. There was trash near every chair adjacent to the lake and no one seemed to mind it!

I'm only providing 3 stars even though I loved the Lodge itself and the grounds and the food was good and the staff was terrific. BUT! We stayed in the Singer cabins and though they were quaint outside the insides were a little too Motel 6 for our taste. Recommend adding some wood detailing to match the Lodge/Lakeside setting and they would be great too!

This is strictly for the restaurant. We agree with other yelpers that you can't beat the view and location of the lodge. But for the ridiculous price and quality of the food they have to offer, I would plan ahead and bring a picnic lunch to eat outside on the adirondack chairs or on the patio. I couldn't believe the $15 plate of scallops I ordered as an appetizer only included three scallops and they were dry and not very tasty. The crab risotto was overwhelmingly cheesy and you had to really hunt to find any minuscule bit of crab meat. To be fair, the clam chowder was really good (although still pricey) and the service was pretty good too. We would have loved to stay at the lodge if they had any rooms available, it looked like it would be a wonderful place to stay. Just remember to bring your own food!

Slight update on my past review. My past-fiance (and now current Husband) and I decided to use the Lake Crescent Lodge for our wedding ceremony and reception. I cannot tell you how happy we were with the experience. It was within our budget, the staff was friendly and helpful (and professional as this is not their first wedding), and the accommodations and setting were serene. It is the perfect spot for a family gathering or a romantic getaway. If you are planning an event and are considering the Lodge, give your business to them! The event coordinator, Bri, is a delight to work with and they will work their hardest to make your wedding day one to remember!

Stopped here on my way back to Seattle after a fabulous trip at Olympic National Park. Go to the bar area and grab a drink, then sit on the deck, relax, and enjoy the phenomenal view. What a cute piece of American history. I really enjoyed my short stop here and will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Good food, but the real winner is the location. You drive through the forest to get there and then it opens to the most magical lakeside spot. We started out sitting at the bar, but eventually got to the patio. The staff is pretty flexible with your seating preferences. As we enjoyed the sunset our crab cake croissant sandwich (decent) and fish and chips (a lot of food) satisfied us. We had a flourless chocolate cake (very rich) and marrionberry crisp (really sweet) for dessert. Just great.

Boyfriend and I stayed in the Singer Tavern Cottages in May as a joint birthday celebration, and both really enjoyed our 2 nights there. The cottage was a bit spendy, but worth it to me for the view over the water and access to the lodge to hang out, read and relax. There were a couple cobwebs in the room, but I don't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that 100% met my cleanliness standards, so it wasn't too bad. The bed was fine, if on the soft side. The highlight for me was spending time in the sun room at the lodge. The view is wonderful, and it was so relaxing to read, knit, have a beer, etc without the distraction of cell phone service or internet. My recommendation for food is to bring your own, or eat in Port Angeles. We bought beers, which were overpriced at maybe 7$ a pint, and did eat breakfast in the lodge one morning, which was not especially good. Service was fine, I just wasn't impressed with the food at that price point. They serve Starbucks drip coffee at breakfast (I *hate* Starbucks). Other than that, we packed a cooler with beers, sandwich makings, etc, which was perfectly fine for us. It was nice to be able to make sandwiches to take out hiking with us. I wish I'd brought my own coffee, as the rooms do have coffee makers. As for area hiking, we did the Spruce Railroad Trail, just around the lake from the lodge. It was more of a walk than a hike in my estimation, but was beautiful nonetheless. We only saw a few other people on a day that was partly cloudy, at times sprinkling or with sunbeams poking through. The deep blue water with fish clearly visible was pretty cool. We meant to make the short trek up Mt. Storm King, but were rained out, and enjoyed the weather from the lodge on that day. Overall, I enjoyed staying here. I'd love to come back in Winter and stay in one of the Roosevelt Cottages and enjoy some real solitude.

You come for the lake but you stay for the pickle. But seriously, the burger's side pickle is excellent. I doubt that the red hummus or the lavender lemonade can hold his strength in any actual city but the desolate location and noon hunger somehow overcomes. Granted the rainforest turnover suspiciously looks like Indian samosas, the flavor was satisfactory. Next time, amp up the lemonade, cook the portabellas, double the pickles, and have a table on the dock. Oh and speed up the service, please.

On a whim, my wife and I visited Lake Crescent Lodge last weekend for lunch and had a great time. The dogs were in tow, so we decided to dine in a couple Adirondack chairs outside along the lakeshore so the dogs weren't cooped up in the hot car. The server brought our food out to us when it was ready. We got the salad with salmon and the fish & chips with a cup of fruit. Both meals were very tasty and perfect for the warm summer day. And the lodge itself, and the lake, are beautiful. We would definitely return for a meal and a stay! We'd give this four stars for the food alone, but coupled with the atmosphere it deserves five stars.

Great double queen rooms on the water for a very reasonable rate. (Roosevelt Cottage room 38 is both on the beach and flanked by a creek with spawning salmon - large picture windows open to allow complete viewing of both while warming yourself by the fireplace.) The lake is essentially an ancient fjord that was formed by a glacial moraine as ice sheets receded north. It possess all the majesty and grandeur of its European and American salt water cousins, plus two subspecies of landlocked salmon that are seen feeding in the shallows from your Adirondack chair on the beachfront. The lodge is managed with sustainability in mind, and the menu is not only well prepared but ecologically and locally sourced. This is the first restaurant that I have been to in years that provided me with a Monterrey Bay Aquarium seafood guide instead of bad farmed salmon (local spring Chinook from the Hoh River was available in Forks, but that's another story). This is notably the lodge where FDR meet with advisers in 1937 to create Olympic National Park.

I just had my wedding there and I have had problem from the start with the person that was supposed to be helping me. I was promised things and they ended up telling me that I was never promised things and them I was called a liar from their general manager. I could only get a room at the lodge for my wedding night and then was told that I couldn't even check in until 4 pm and that was when my 5-hour block began, but the check in was the longest check in that I have ever experienced. When I finally got into the room it was hot and the bathroom had mildew. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and perfect. However when we got to the reception there was no av system that was part of the contract we paid for, we had to use our laptop with portable speakers. When we got to the food I had to personally ask for the vegetarian plates that were ordered for the vegetarians at my wedding. I choses a catering option that came with both bottled water and canned soda to save money, however my guests were told that there was no soda available. The servers (if you could call them that) were rude to me and my guests. The sun was setting and we wanted to catch the last rays and take pictures on the dock that was there. While we were gone (approximately 15 minutes) they decided to begin taking the food away and break down the tables and chairs, an hour before my block of reserved time was due to end. Many of our guests who came out with us did not receive their cake yet and when we came back we discovered that there were no forks available they had to go back to the lodge office to receive more. The tent had no lights so when it dusk came the tent was so dark we could barely see each other. After the reception was done and our guest were gone, my new husband and I were trying to settle down and get some sleep, but the bed was like trying to sleep on a slab of concrete. And when my husband turned his pillow over to get comfortable he discovered an earwig crawling toward his head. We check out instantly and spent our wedding night driving 6 hours back home in the middle of the night.

Did not eat or stay here for a night. HOWEVER, definitely worth a visit if you are in the Hurricane Ridge/Port Angeles area. The area is serene and the lake cannot be any more clear on a sunny day. Hike the "Moment in Time" trail right next to the lodge (only ~0.75mile hike). You feel like you're far, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I LOVED this place. About me: 28 years old, like hiking & nature. Don't like bugs, esp ones that bite me. Like cleanliness a lot. Lake Crescent was AMAZING. Sure, the room was basic, but it was clean, which is more important to me. Each room (maybe not the ones above the lodge) has a little balcony with two chairs, where you can sit and watch the sun set. The lodge restaurant had super delicious food - we had dinner & breakfast. (They have the most amazing chorizo omelette my husband & I have ever had! Also, for dinner, the cornish hen & duck were awesome.) On our vaca out to the west coast, we also stayed at Lake Quinault Lodge & had dinner at Crater Lake Lodge. Lake Crescent takes the cake! (I would not recommend either of the other two, I'll be reviewing those shortly.) I really can't rave enough. It's not like you're staying in a five star Marriott or anything, but it's super laid back and comfortable.

What a spectacular spot! So beautiful! Too bad the Lake Crescent Lodge restaurant was so awful. Cold or lukewarm food that was uninspired at best. The lunch menu was quite limited and needed some updating. You would think with such a wonderful location and incredible views that the chef would have been motivated to create something special--but no. Service was slow, but at least the wait staff was cheerful and friendly. We did not stay at the Lodge, but if the restaurant is any indication I think you would be better off going somewhere else.

This is a well maintained 1916 lodge located in Olympic National Park on a beautiful lake with turquoise glacial water surrounded by steep forested cliffs; that alone is reason to go there. The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food is also served in the Springer Tavern located next to the dining room in the lobby between lunch and dinner; Springer Tavern also serves food to persons who can't get into the dining room for dinner. The dining room opens for dinner at 6 PM; we arrived at 5:30 PM, were directed to the Springer Tavern because reservations were full. Springer Tavern had one harried, laid-back and good humored bartender who had an impossible job. He was soleley responsible for folding silverware into linens for guests, for a busy 6 stool bar which also serves the wait staff for the dining room, for taking food orders for 8 tables, for serving the food, for bussing the dishes, and managing the guest checks. Service in the tavern was understandably sporadic and slow. The couple at the next table were staying at the lodge, still couldn't get dinner reservations. The Tavern menu consisted of appetizers, clam chowder, and 3 varieties of burger. We had chowder, fried oysters, and calamari--they were out of steamed clams. The food was OK, but not special. Blackberry pie was delicious and creme brulee OK.
